Customization adds value to garments and accessories. The most valuable form of customization is individuality. Each individual has their own unique traits and quirks that make them who they are. Everyone can go to the local department store and pick out the same pair of jeans. By customizing your clothing, you separate yourself from the hundreds of other people who are wearing the same garment. Those custom features make your clothing unique. Customization of garments sparks creativity and inspiration.

I found my visit to M&S Custom Flowers to be very inspiring. As soon as you enter the doors of M&S, you’re mesmerized by these custom flowers. So many shapes, sizes, textures, colors. The possibilities were endless. M&S Schmalberg is the largest manufacturer of artificial flowers in the United States. M&S first opened their doors in 1916. Their family business was first started by brothers Morris and Sam Schmalberg. Harold was a holocaust survivor who lost his family in the war. Warren Brand, current President of M&S Schmalberg, has been making fabric flowers for over 40 years. It was an honor to meet Warren on the day of our tour. He walked us through the factory, giving us an in-depth look at how these gorgeous flowers are made. A beauty that lasts forever.

M&S offers their services to everyone. Their clientele ranges from bridal, fashion designers, and costume designers. Weddings and flowers go hand-in-hand. They combine white and ivory silk flowers to create stunning fabric flower bouquets and wedding centerpieces. They have worked with famous designers, including Vera Wang, Marchesa, Oscar de la Renta and Ralph Lauren. Creating specialty pieces for haute couture and bulk wholesale orders for ready-to-wear. Our fabric flowers are excellent for ballet costumes, hair accessories and theatrical set design. Schmalberg flowers can be seen on the sets and costumes of many Broadway shows, including Hamilton and television shows, including The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.
