Inspiration can come from a beautiful pattern, detailed quality, rich textures, and of course color, whether they are bold and graphic or subtle and sophisticated. For color inspiration and pattern combinations for their designs, whether they are for interiors, furniture, textiles, or even entire home decor collections, many interior designers look to the world of fashion. For a house and a person, respectively, both furniture and clothing serve as attractive focal points. Furniture and fashion are two threads that make up one fabric.
I was inspired by the Room & Board’s elegance and craftsmanship during our visit. Combining contemporary designs with classic features, creating pieces that go far beyond the trends of today. Room & Board has been crafting gorgeous, functional, and classic modern furniture since 1980. A modern lifestyle is one that values simplicity and functionality in your home. R&B draws inspiration for their own furniture design from lasting historical design movements. Shaker designs, Scandinavian and Mid-Century Modern furniture, Japanese aesthetics, and the American Arts and Crafts movement are all represented in some items.
So far I’ve been to various businesses and met many freelancers. It’s an amazing opportunity to have a look inside these different companies and individual worlds. Study tour is absolutely my favorite class this semester as I learn best outside of the classroom, getting my hands dirty in the real world. It’s been an honor spending time with these individuals, hearing their incredible stories and learning some tricks of the trade. Since beginning my PR/marketing internship with Romeo Hunte, my world has blossomed. Never have I been in such a fast-moving, demanding workplace that forces me to give my all. I now have a sincere interest in public relations as this is my first job in the field and I’m so grateful for the opportunity.
